During October, FatCow will donate $1 from each sale of its Web site hosting solution, The FatCow, to help the American Cancer Society’s efforts to fight breast cancer. Website and blog owners involved in the Pink for October program redesign their sites so that they are pink for October.

“We are very proud and pleased to be able to participate in such a good cause,” says Jean McCarthy, FatCow’s senior director of marketing. “Our team cares a lot about women’s issues. This cause means a lot to our staff members, some of whom have close, personal stories about how breast cancer has impacted the people in their lives, and we know the American Cancer Society is a great organization to stand behind.”

FatCow provides shared Web hosting solutions to individuals and small- to medium-sized businesses. The FatCow Plan is an all-in-one hosting plan offering 300GB of disk space, 3,000GB of data transfer, website builder tools, unlimited email accounts, blogs and forums and e-commerce capabilities.

CM4all says some of the most recent companies to integrate WebsiteCreator into their portfolios include BizLand, FatCow, PowWeb, Blue Domino and ReadyHosting.

The integration and re-branding capabilities of the CM4all WebsiteCreator made it possible for each host to receive their own dedicated GUI through CM4all’s customizable user interface, enabling each brand to retain their own identity while broadening their portfolios, says the company.

The companies say they joined efforts to meet the unique hosting needs of the three Web communities they serve, which include the small business community from BizLand, the creative-types from FatCow and the tech-savvy users from PowWeb.

“The Web is here for the rest of us, thanks to a new era of easy-to-use online tools that lets just about anyone design a Web site and find a hosting partner in a matter of minutes,” says Sophia Nobrega, Hang 10 promotions manager. “The Hang 10 Hosting Giveaway is our way of putting a spotlight to this joint effort to help get people on the Web. We brought these three hosts together to help people see that they have options and that there are hosts that focus on their particular needs.”

Customers of BizLand, FatCow and PowWeb are eligible to enter to win a Hawaiian vacation for two, along with more than 100 other prizes including a laptop computer and gas cards. The companies say participants will automatically be entered in the draw every time they refer a new hosting customer, sign up for a new hosting plan or upgrade to a paid hosting plan. There is no limit on the number of entries and the deadline is December 15.

The company celebrated its 7th anniversary with the contest, giving away a new MINI Cooper car, an Apple Mac mini and an iPod mini, as well as 25 of its own “MiniMoo” domain hosting accounts.

FatCow says it showed its appreciation for existing customers by extending contest eligibility, entering upgrades and referrals into the drawing in addition to new signups. The contest ran from September through December of 2005.

“With over 35,000 mail-in entrants alone, the response to the contest through new signups and existing customer upgrades and referrals was amazing and far exceed our expectations,” says Peter Ziesmann, FatCow’s director of marketing.

The winner of the MINI Cooper, was Maryland’s Damian Moody. The musician and composer has hosted his site audiodef.com with FatCow since 2004.
