Web hosting provider Doreo Hosting announced on Thursday it has partnered with technology company Righteous Software to deploy a backup solution on its network.

Doreo says it’s one of the first hosts internationally using the new technology, which implements nearly continuous data backups of all customer accounts. Doreo previously relied on a backup solution that required entire accounts to be backed up, but with the new solution, the company is able to back up only disk-sectors that have been changed, a feature enabling more frequent backups to me made.

The company says backups will be kept on three separate schedules. Hourly backups will be taken with 14-day retention, and both weekly and monthly backups with 8-week retention. Customers will be able to restore files from any previous backup.

“The cardinal goal in backing up our clients’ data is to offer a true layer of security for everybody, even us,” says Frank Feingold, Doreo Hosting president. “Hard drives fail, scripts break and sometimes customers just go ‘oops’ and delete the wrong file. We need a solid solution that will allow us, and our customers, to quickly recover from these situations.”

Web hosting provider Doreo Hosting announced on Tuesday it has introduced MailFoundry, a hardware-based anti-spam and antivirus email filtering solution. The new solution will be offered as a free value-added feature on all Web hosting accounts.

The company had been looking to move its mail management software away from individual Web servers since early 2006. After deciding to go with MailFoundry in June, it took only a few weeks to deploy the new solution.

“Mail management has always been an important aspect of our Web hosting service,” says Frank Feingold, president of Doreo Hosting. “As such, we have been hunting for a solution that will not only reduce the load on our servers, but that will also allow for a higher level of spam and virus mitigation. MailFoundry is the prefect fit.”

MailFoundry runs off its own hardware appliance, and monitors all incoming emails automatically. Once MailFoundry detects potential spam, it quarantines the message, and notifies the recipient once a day with a list of withheld messages.
