IT security solutions provider Comodo announced on Monday that it has partnered with Web hosting provider UK2 to offer its dedicated server customers unlimited, free SSL certificates.

All new and existing UK2 dedicated server customers can claim their free Comodo positive SSL certificates through their customer control panel. Comodo says the certificates provide domain validation, 128 / 256 bit encryption and are trusted by all popular Internet browsers, with at least 99.3 percent ubiquity. By using these certificates, UK2 dedicated server customers can build customer confidence in their own websites by providing assurance that data cannot be tampered with or forged and is protected during online transactions, says the company.

UK2 says resellers will also be able to pass along the free SSL certificates to their own customers and can choose whether to sell them or provide them for free.

“We’re the first host to offer this on such a large scale,” says Ditlev Bredahl, CEO of UK2. “Dedicated hosting continues to be a very competitive market on a global level. We have created an important value-add for our customers. While this is an expensive offer for our company, we will do what it takes to stand out from the crowd and provide our customers with outstanding value for their money.”

UK Web hosting provider and domain registrar the UK-2 Group announced on Wednesday it has acquired the shared and domain assets of Web hosting provider Stargate, as a result of Stargate deciding to focus on data center and dedicated hosting services.

Former Stargate customers will now be customers of US2.net, which is the UK-2 Group’s US domain and shared hosting brand. The company says that customers can expect no major changes, including the products offered. US2.net will now bill customers as well as provide round the clock support, says the company.

Additionally, the UK-2 Group Web hosting subsidiary, UK2 announced it has partnered with IT security solutions provider Comodo to offer new and existing dedicated server customers unlimited, free Comodo Positive SSL certificates, valued at £33 each per year.
