Domain registrar and Web hosting provider Dotster announced on Tuesday it has launched a virtual private server offering, delivering the benefits of a private environment with its own independent operating system, Web server, mail server and software instances.
Dotster’s Linux VPS plans start at $29.95 per month, include root access and are powered by Virtuozzo technology, enabling customers to reboot their servers independently. Virtuozzo partitions physical servers into virtual private servers, each with its own root access, users, IP addresses, memory, processes, files, applications, system libraries and configuration files.
Dotster offers three Linux based VPS plans, which range from 10GB to 50GB of disk space and 500GB to 2,500GB of bandwidth, as well as 1, 2, or 8 dedicated IP addresses. All the packages host 30 domains, and customers can upgrade to 100 domains for $3.75 per month or unlimited domains for $7.50 per month.
“Dotster’s new VPS offering gives individuals and businesses the reliability, scalability, and security of hosting on an enterprise-quality dedicated server,” says Clint Page, CEO of Dotster. “With a VPS, customers save money while still realizing the competitive advantages and revenue potential of owning their own server.”
