Managed hosting provider Layered Technologies announced on Wednesday that it has appointed John “Jack” Finlayson its CEO and chairman of the board of directors. Michael Platner, co-founder of Layered Technologies and CEO since its inception in 2004, will continue as a board member and become vice chairman of the board of directors.

“In four years at the helm, Michael led the growth from a startup to a top 10 hosting provider in the US,” says Finlayson. “I am excited about the opportunity with Layered Technologies. I believe the market demand is on the rise and the opportunities ahead of the company are significant. The top line growth experienced over the last four years is a testament to the leadership and focus Michael and company co-founder, president and chief operating officer Todd Abrams have instilled in the organization. I look forward to working with Todd while relying on Michael as a strategic ally.”

Finlayson recently served as a director for Layered Technologies and a consultant with the company for Enhanced Equity Fund. Previously, Finlayson served for six and a half years as president and COO of SAVVIS Communications where he was an integral part of the SAVVIS IPO, the integration of Cable and Wireless America and the overall significant profitable growth of the SAVVIS business. Finlayson also held multiple executive positions in marketing, management and sales at AT&T.

Platner and Finlayson will transition responsibilities throughout November with Finlayson beginning the chairman and CEO role officially on November 26.
