The Web hosting provider known until today as Interland announced on Monday that it would be known as Web.com, effective immediately.

Web.com will continue to trade on the NASDAQ stock exchange, using the new ticker symbol “WWWW” starting Monday.

Interland acquired Web.com in November of 2005 for a price of $4.4 million. The acquisition included approximately 9,000 Web hosting customers and the Web.com domain name, which Interland considered a valuable commodity.

The company said the change in name would help to align it more closely with its core Web services business.
