Domain registrar and Web hosting provider Go Daddy announced on Monday that it is pledging to keep its workers on American soil after a recent study revealed that offshore spending is on the rise.
In a December 2007 study, research and analysis firm Gartner predicted that offshore spending would grow by 40 percent in the US during 2008, as big government contracts are being awarded to European firms.
Despite the trend of technology firms moving some of their business overseas, Go Daddy’s founder and CEO, Bob Parsons, says that it is maintaining its commitment to keep its workers in the US. He believes that keeping Go Daddy’s employees local will ensure customer care representatives and developers can quickly respond to customer feedback, providing the most responsive support in the business.
“We will not sacrifice quality just because it might save a few dollars,” says Parsons. “Providing the absolute best customer service has always been one of our hallmarks. It distinguishes us from the competition. Always has.”
Parson’s determination to keep jobs in the US seems to be an application of his personal patriotic beliefs upon his business philosophy. As a former Vietnam war veteran, Parsons has been known to express his outspoken political views as well as his proud patriotism in his radio show and blog.
Although Go Daddy is evaluating its options for international development, this kind of expansion will not result in a decrease of workers at US offices, says the company.
“Go Daddy is first and foremost an American company,” says Parsons. “What we have here works.”
