Domain registrar and Web hosting provider Go Daddy announced on Thursday that it has been seeing tremendous growth in registrations for the .us domain name extension.

The company says that it has accounted for more than 53 percent of all .us registrations in August and matched similar statistics in September and October. Go Daddy also says that between August 1 and September 30, it has increased the number of .us registrations by 47 percent compared to the previous time period last year.

“We are thrilled to see .us performing so well,” says Bob Parsons, founder and CEO of Go Daddy. “Go Daddy has put a lot of effort into raising awareness for the extension and the results are quite clear – our customers have been snatching up available .us domain names at an eye popping rate.”
